Pimientos De Padron at El Rayo

Hurry to El Rayo for the the Pimientos De Padron special. My husband and I ordered them earlier today and fought over every last one. This popular Spanish Tapas dish is one I haven't seen in Maine before now. El Rayo's version is flash fried in the perfect amount of oil and dusted with salt. They have a range of flavors -some are sweet while others are hot.

Norine Kotts (co-owner) explained that while they would like this to be a regular menu item, currently they can only secure two deliveries a week from a farm in Northern California. So I recommend taking trip to El Rayo - while this special lasts.

Unassuming exterior may be a HUGE understatement but if you are a Gyro fan Papou's Kitchen at 276 "Woodfed's" in Portland is a must try!
