I love Scratch. While in town working on the No on 1 Campaign we went there almost every morning. They are amazing. We are sad we lost the election but we fell in love with Scratch. The Mendocino you talk about is from the county south of us here in California. I called Scratch to see if they would ship to California. Sadly they would not. Another reason to make a cross country trip to Maine

I agree with NolaSox in that the bagels at Scratch are much more like a bagel-shaped baguette rather than a bagel. Even so, they are almost as enjoyable as the bagels I find at H&H in NYC - and certainly the best I've found in Maine.

They are nothing like a NYC bagel. To me, they are a tasty loaf of bread in the shape of a large bagel. They are worth trying but not a real bagel.

The bagels at scratch are NOTHING like NYC bagels. They are tasty and fresh, but really are much more like a bagel-shaped baguette as opposed to a bagel. If they are that close to a NYC bagel I need to make a pilgrimage to Scratch .. haven&#39;t had a good bagel in Maine except the sweet Cinnamon Crunch and Asiago Cheese at Panera.<br /><br />Most of the bagels here are very, very meh
