Lobster Shack is unpredictable, can be good one day, bad the next. Chowderhead's rarely has fresh croissants for theirs. Bridgeway's was a bit skimpier than they used to be last several times I was there, and our regular server is gone so a much longer wait to order than I have been used to on Saturdays.

My favorite one is the one at the little gourmet food shop the Greenspot near Augusta. We crave it those summers we don't get to Maine, like this one. But I see she just wrote about it at Oneforthetable.com and posted the recipe....so we're going to try to make it at home in S.F. but the lobster won't be as fresh.

My favorite lobster roll is the Bridgeway Restaurant in South Portland. Not only is it an excellent lobster roll (perfectly toasted, fresh claw meat, etc.) but it's a very affordable lunch (less than $9 with fries). The place is a total dive though and not in an ideal location by any means.
